Question of the Week: What are some of the Old Testament Prophecies that talk about Jesus’ first and second comings?
Verses: Isaiah 2:4, 7:14, 9:6, Micah 5:2, Jeremiah 23:5-6, Psalm 22, Zechariah 9:9, Daniel 9:24-26
While we have more evidence than we know what to do with about Jesus’ first coming historically, the Old Testament prophets went to even greater lengths to describe it in detail before it even happened. Over 100 prophecies were fulfilled by Jesus in His first coming; including where He’d be born, how He’d die, what date in history and on what kind of animal He’d enter the city of Jerusalem on, and especially His status as God Himself. Three times that number remain unfulfilled until Jesus’ second coming, but we know since Jesus kept the promises He fulfilled in His first coming, the promises we have yet to see fulfilled are guaranteed.
