A Reason for Hope Question of the Week, February 23rd, 2018

Question of the Week: Are all religions equally valid ways to God?
Verses: John 14:6

Ravi Zacharias said in his book, Jesus Amoung Other Gods, ““All religions are not the same. All religions do not point to God. All religions do not say that all religions are the same. At the heart of every religion is an uncompromising commitment to a particular way of defining who God is or is not and accordingly, of defining life’s purpose.” Every single belief system without exception makes claims that contradict all others. People subscribe to each belief for varying reasons. Some do so for cultural reasons. Others hold their beliefs for the sake of their families. Christianity stands alone as the only belief whose founder not only claimed to be God Himself, but proved it through a historically verifiable resurrection from the dead. Eternity is too long a time to gamble with. Know what you believe and why, as well as why you don’t believe the alternatives. The truth is exclusive by definition and is too important to leave to guesswork when eternity is at stake.

A Reason for Hope Question of the Week, January 12th, 2017

Question of the Week: Does the Bible say anything about Aliens?
Verses: 2 Corinthians 11:12
Of all of the reports about alien encounters, dubious or not, the witnesses to these kinds of encounters all have very troubling things in common. Those involved in habitual drug use should come as no surprise to seeing “odd things” when they’re alone. However, those heavily involved in the occult make up the majority of those who claim to have extraterrestrial encounters. If that doesn’t make eyebrows raise enough, every one of these beings seemed to go out of their way to promote eastern philosophies and denouncing Christianity at the same time. The involvement of the demonic can’t be stressed enough in this situation. Satan’s specialty is making himself look like the good guy. We should be very concerned when those around us claim to have had these kinds of encounters. It stands to reason that the best way for the enemy to appeal to the modern generation isn’t by terrorizing them like the Greek god Pan, but comforting their agnosticism as a little green man.

Question of the Week: How do transgender people get saved?
Verses: John 3:16, Romans 10:9-13

Those that struggle with transgenderism, or gender dysphoria, are saved the same way as everyone else. They understand their actions have separated them from God, and God’s actions have restored that relationship. Those with one particular kind of mental disorder are not in a worse state of sin than everyone else is. The culture may glorify some sins over others just like the church will falsely demonize certain sins over others. The reality is that we all need Jesus, and He offers His forgiveness the same way He has from the moment He first offered it. The only person who is exempt from this forgiveness is the one who personally rejects it.

Question of the Week: How is God glorified through suffering?
Verses: Ezekiel 33:11, 2 Peter 3:10-11, Romans 6:23

The most common objection to Christianity is not an unfounded one. If God was all powerful, He should be able to do something about suffering. If God was all good, He’d want to do something about suffering. Since He hasn’t done anything about suffering, He’s either not all good, or not all powerful. The answer to this question is a simple look at history. Has God done anything about human suffering? Yes, He dealt with it at its cause. Our rejection of God is what brought suffering on this world. Our continual rejection of His standards is what we define as evil. Our state is our fault and God is under no obligation to do anything about it. Yet because He is all good, voluntarily chose to make Himself apart of our suffering and offer redemption from sin’s ultimate consequence. This freedom from death and the opportunity for a relationship with Him is how we see He is glorified through it. If God Himself did not have to suffer, but demonstrated His heart for us by becoming apart of all of it, our willingness to endure it for His sake shows that He is worth to us as much as we were to Him on the cross. Suffering may not always make sense, but God has shown us His heart on the matter. God did not ignore our suffering. He bore it alongside us.

A Reason for Hope Question of the Week, April 28th, 2017

Question of the Week: Why do Muslims claim the Bible has been corrupted?
Bible Verses: Isaiah 6:9
Quran Verses: Surah 3:3-4, 18:27, 5:47, 5:68, 10:94

Muslims claim the Bible has been corrupted. This is not because the evidence proves it, but Islam demands it. The Quran claims Jesus was merely a prophet and was never crucified, and at the same time claims the Bible is the inspired and incorruptible word of God. If the Quran is true, Islam is false because it contradicts scriptures that it affirms are true. If the Quran is wrong, Islam is false because core authority of the Quran has proven to be unreliable. For more information on Islamic Apologetics, please subscribe to Acts17Apologetics on Youtube and know how to defend your faith against Islam.
