“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12
Our Junior High Ministry seeks to prepare its students not only for active application, but personal relation to God’s word as they are introduced to verse by verse teachings through God’s word.
We meet in the Children’s Building at 6:45pm on Wednesday nights, as well as 9:00am and 11:00am Sunday Mornings coinciding with all available church services. The Children’s Building is located directly across from the Worship center. The Jr. High has its own classroom able to accommodate all age groups between 6th and 8th grade.
Graduation from the Children’s Ministry is during May. The focus of the Jr. High is to establish a safe environment for students to learn the Bible.
We teach verse by verse through the following books of the Bible:
Genesis, Exodus, and Joshua to provide a foundation for the Nation of Israel’s founding.
1st and 2nd Samuel to provide an understanding of the life of the Kings of Israel beyond what they already know from their days in Sunday school.
The Gospels of Luke and John to provide a stable understanding of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Daniel and Revelation to introduce them to Biblical prophecy.
James, Romans, and 1 Thessalonians to give them an overview of what the Christian life looks like in practicality as much as doctrine.
And Acts to give them examples of the church’s origins and the work the Holy Spirit continues to do through His people today.
Whether they are being introduced to God’s word for the first time or continuing to be established in the fear of the Lord, we make our Junior High Ministry as much an introduction as it is preparation for adulthood in the Christian life as we train them to hear their shepherd’s voice.
We also make an effort during every book to discuss the imperative of sexual purity in our culture with representatives of our Running Light Ministry to discuss with the kids why their sexuality is a gift as much as a treasure.
If you have any questions concerning this or the ministry as a whole, please don’t hesitate to speak to our teachers.
Our Mission is to see the Jr. High students grow in the knowledge and understanding of God’s plan for their lives; and to encourage them to apply the things that they learn in all areas of their lives.
