When The Bible Reads You

When The Bible Reads You

Preacher: Scott Richards
Series: Luke 2019
Passage: Luke 16:15-18
Service Type: Sunday Morning

Jesus follows through after telling a series of parables to address the real issue between them and God. They had the externals down to a science, but they were as incapable of receiving God’s word from Jesus as they were with John and every prophet before him. The solution was exactly what Jesus drew attention to. Who is God, how to we restore our relationship with Him, and where do we get the information about both of these key questions? The point is plainer than most would want it to be. Your regard for scripture will be directly proportional to your capacity for fellowship with God.

1. Fellowship with the True and Living God needs to be based on who He actually is.
2. We can’t pursue restoration between us and God until we acknowledge there is a problem there in the first place.
3. There remains to be a means by which God had provided us to know who He is and how to relate to Him properly apart from the Bible. Therefore, we need to stick to what we’ve been given rather than attempt to dismiss or diminish it.
